John Guite
Description:
John Guite 33 year old,
married systems analyst for a large Silicon Valley corporation. He
has two kids, a dog and has recently purchased a home in Pleasanton
that he can barely afford. He wears Old Navy, Gap clothes with collar
shirts (but no buttons) for a casual but classy look at the office.
He commutes from Pleasanton to San Francisco daily on the BART, and
spends a lot of time waiting at bus stations, train stations and in
lines in San Francisco. John is happy with his existence, but is
interested in adding a little bit more fun to his routine. He mostly
uses the travel time to catch up on work, read the paper or listen to
music or radio shows, but he sees interesting things that he’d
like to talk about with others sometimes. Taking a picture could be a
great conversation starter, or a way to share his day with his kids
or wife. It can’t be a great burden though, because he doesn’t
have the time or patience to deal with a complicated system or things
to do. It would also be a fun way to share things with his family
back in Texas.
He has recently
purchased a cell phone that has a camera attached. He is interested
in taking opportunistic photos of people, places and things, and
browsing photos that others have taken. He does not consider himself
a professional, or even a serious photographer. He has no ambition to
become either, but enjoys looking at interesting photos, or capturing
weird and interesting things in his routine. He isn’t really
interested in maintaining a reputation, or becoming an important part
of any community. He is more concerned with browsing and searching
interesting photos of interesting situations near where he lives,
largely for his own amusement. He
spends more time in front of a computer than he does with his phone,
so he would like to be able to browse lots of images and tasks from
his high speed internet connection, mainly from work.
John has heard about a
camera game from some of his younger, single colleagues at work. He
thought some of the tasks that he saw were interesting and do-able,
and really enjoyed browsing through the pictures of things that
people had used. Although he might only take a couple of pictures a
month, if that, it is a fun way to see what is going on around the
city and where he works, and keep some kind of log about his daily
commutes. Also, if he sees something interesting, he has a chance to
share it with people and gain some kind of recognition. John feels
that it makes his daily commute and waiting time around the city a
bit more interesting because he is always looking for new things to
snatch pictures of.
Goals:
To have fun, and
something to kill time with. He wants to see something a little
different outside of his regular routine,
